Hi Palash,

Yes, it would be a good slap on the face of the government if this could happen. We ofcourse, to build a larger community of people willing to do this.

If we can build that community, another option of pressuring the government to get their act together and clean up the lake, also opens up.

Key question is how do we gather the strength in Vasant Kunj of concerned citizens; the people are there; it is a question of how to get them together on a common discussion platform. I am hoping that the Vasant Kunj Google group: http://groups.google.com/group/vasantkunj would act as such a platform. How could we advertise about this, and bring people over there?

It is indeed a shame! We are proving to be the worst inheritors of our inheritance-natural and cultural. We live in dirt and filth and are worse than animals. Our past generations were sensitive to the context. We are just living in a trance set by the west.

What can be done? Can we spend some time for the environment around to begin with? Can we not depend on Government and take things upon ourself. I propose that we contribute to clean the lake. My assessment is that it would not cost more than a lakh to clear up for one instance. Then, the momentum can pick up and sustanined. just 20 of us can make a difference to start with. What do you think?
